UN Women USA LA, the greater Los Angeles chapter of UN Women USA, today announced a special event in recognition of their 10th anniversary taking place on Human Rights Day on Saturday, December 10th. The event will recognize past board members, advisory council members, and chapter members who made a significant impact on the organization's work. All of these individuals are peace-builders, activists, and changemakers who seek to make the world a more inclusive and equitable place.

"We will provide a community space for storytelling that is celebratory and thought-provoking," said UN Women USA LA communications director Carla Van Der Hoeven. "We will celebrate the past 10 years and foster shared knowledge, reflexivity, reciprocity, and activism — and jumpstart conversations and actions that matter and promote change that advances all women and girls. From education and technology to branding and sports, our speaker's stories speak of resilience and activism. Join us as we celebrate our 10th year and share stories of activism in support of equity and gender equality."

"This is a very special event to celebrate past chapter platforms, events, and our most memorable moments," Van Der Hoeven added. "We’ll also be holding a discussion on what’s to come for the future. We could not have done any of this work without our members, activists, speakers, board, donors, and volunteers. In other words: the peacebuilders, activists, and changemakers who collectively seek to make the world a better place. Our celebration will look to them specifically, celebrating them through community, connection, and storytelling."

The event will be hosted by Sean Hill, and with speakers including Brooke Scott, Carole Oglesby, Richard Matthew, Christina Klepin, Emiliana Guereca, Cvnthia Johnson, Tinnisha Hutchinson-Nolan, Kava Salisbury, Brandy Jones-Breth, Shruthi, Brianna Michelle, Brooke Scott, and Suhasini Gupta.

UN Women USA LA, a charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a coalition of dedicated Angelenos with a common interest in supporting the large-scale international humanitarian efforts of United Nations Women while advancing pertinent solutions to global issues within the community. All donations are tax-deductible and benefit the UN Women policy development program.
