The Shirley Chisholm Education Foundation, an organization dedicated to creating changemakers by providing self-development and virtual mentorship experiences for women, by women, today announced the inaugural Spirit of Shirley Chisholm Awards ceremony to celebrate women mentoring women in the digital age. The foundation invites individuals from around the United States and abroad to join us this November to highlight individuals who have been carrying the torch of mentorship by emulating the spirit of Shirley Chisholm.
The event will be hosted via Zoom on November 30, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. EST, and aims to create awareness about the tremendous contribution Shirley Chisholm played in building our future while celebrating women who are mentoring women in the digital age.
The inaugural honorees for the Spirit of Shirley Chisholm Awards include Barbadian Humanitarian and Philanthropist Rivka Pastreich; author Alicia D. Williams; the youngest African American accepted to Medical School, and Founder of Brown STEM Girls, Alena McQuarter; Psychologist and Assistant Professor Dr. Raquel Martin; CEO and Founder of Resilia, and Nobel Prize recipient Sevetri Wilson.
