On July 29 Rogelio Landin, a 50-year 13th District Democrat, filed a declaration of intent to run as an independent write-In candidate for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District Representative seat. Initially, he had declared for the primary but given the dynamics of the race, opted to stand down and assess the results.  Given the nominee garnered only 25% of the vote, that left 75% of the district essentially without a candidate. Rogelio Landin has entered the general election race to provide the District with that choice.

Landin’s campaign theme is “Unity” as a result of the prior election results showing fragmentation among the voter base. The basis of our electoral system is majority rule. The primary did not meet that test in the 13th District.

Rogelio Landin was invited to serve on a New Detroit committee 50 years ago. Today, Detroit remains a model for coalition building.  One of the higher profile committees was Community Self-Determination.  This is what elections are all about.  Let’s form an unprecedented political coalition that can serve as a national model for the foreseeable future.

This announcement also serves as an invitation to every voter in the 13th District that would like to consider an alternative to the nominee, to visit our website to view the candidate's record. Rogelio Landin has a 50-year track record of accomplishments in leadership, policy and governance. The campaign invites you to join our campaign to UNITE the 13th Congressional District and invest in your community by voting on November 8 by writing in Rogelio Landin.
