The National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI), a non-profit organization founded in 1997, has launched the Symposium on Slip, Trip, and Fall Prevention. The organization's mission is to prevent slips, trips, and falls through education, research, and standards development. The symposium aims to contribute to a fundamental understanding of slip, trip, and fall prevention by bringing together subject matter experts from four industry segments:

  • Foodservice / Hospitality / Healthcare
  • Retail / Grocery / Public Facilities
  • Legal / Regulation / Insurance / Risk Management
  • Facilities Maintenance / Housekeeping / Janitorial

The two-day event will take place on September 25–26, 2023 and feature 46 speakers who will address the growing problem of accidental slips, trips, and falls. Attendees can participate in person at the Hurst Conference Center in Hurst, Texas, or via live stream. The keynote speaker for the symposium is Mr. John Quiñones, an ABC News Veteran as well as the creator and host of What Would You Do? who will discuss the media's view of safety. The NFSI is a champion for slip, trip, and fall prevention and provides third-party independent product testing, and educational training programs, as well as overseeing the NFSI B101 committee which authors slip, trip, and fall prevention standards.

"NFSI is excited to host its second International Symposium on Slip, Trip, and Fall Prevention," said Russell J. Kendzior, Founder and President of the National Floor Safety Institute. "Our symposium provides a forum for subject matter experts to contribute to a fundamental understanding of slip, trip, and fall prevention."
