Floor23 Digital, a tech company specializing in open innovation through crowd-based challenges and participant education, has announced the launch of the “Rid the Rocket” Challenge in collaboration with NASA Tournament Lab. The challenge aims to develop a new chemical detection method for Hydrazine/MMH, a highly toxic and dangerous substance that is critical for flight safety.
The challenge, which will be available for submissions from January 10th to March 14th on Floor23 Digital's own platform Innobear, offers a prize pool of $47,000 for successful solutions, as well as the opportunity for winners to meet with NASA's Materials & Components Team to share their solutions, live. Winners will also receive worldwide recognition via social media, press releases, and demo days.
“The part science, part physical device nature of this challenge combined with its importance to space safety and efficiency, make this an awesome opportunity for brilliant minds around the world to participate in,” said Candace Spears, CEO & Founder of Floor23 Digital. The goal of the challenge is to yield qualified solutions to be tested at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
