Capitol Physical Therapy, a leading physical therapy clinic in Washington, DC, is hosting a free workshop on bladder control issues and urinary incontinence. This informative session is designed to help individuals better understand the causes, symptoms, and effective treatments for urinary incontinence, with a focus on the role physical therapy can play in managing and improving bladder health.
Urinary incontinence is a common condition that affects an estimated 50% of adult women worldwide. However, many of these women feel embarrassed or unsure about seeking help. This workshop aims to create a supportive environment where attendees can learn practical strategies and exercises to manage and alleviate symptoms. It will be led by pelvic health specialists Drs. Alice Aehl, DPT, and Dr. Kaitlin Windingland, DPT.
During the workshop, Drs. Aehl and Windingland plan to cover:
- The types and causes of urinary incontinence
- Common misconceptions and myths about bladder control issues
- How physical therapy can help strengthen pelvic muscles and improve bladder control
- Effective exercises, lifestyle changes, and strategies to reduce symptoms
- When to seek professional help and how to choose the right treatment options
“We’re excited to offer this workshop as part of our commitment to promoting better health in the community,” said Dr. Subha Nagasubramanian, DPT, Director of Capitol Physical Therapy. “Bladder control issues are often overlooked or dismissed, but with the right education and support, many people can regain control and improve their quality of life. Our goal is to empower those with the knowledge they need to make the right decisions about their own health.”
The workshop is open to women experiencing bladder control issues, as well as those interested in learning more about pelvic floor physical therapy in Washington DC in general.
