Razvan Oprea, Romanian film and theatre actor, director, and PhD candidate at the Faculty of Theatre and Film, Babeș-Bolyai University, under the guidance of Associate Professor Dr. Habil Diana Cozma, has launched a pioneering research project in the field of theatre, continuing the work of J. Grotowski and E. Barba. The study, titled "Quantum Momentum in Actor's Performance," explores the direct and measurable connection between the principles of quantum mechanics and the actor's stage presence.

This innovative research aims to demonstrate that there is a link between the actor's stage presence and the principles of quantum mechanics, such as the "quantum uncertainty principle" and the "quantum entanglement principle." The study seeks to show how these principles can be applied in the training and development of actors, enabling them to achieve a Quantum Momentum—a moment of all potentialities.

The research involves a series of innovative experiments where actors and observers are used instead of photons and electrons. The experiments will be conducted in a theatrical laboratory, adhering to scientific methodologies adapted to demonstrate the principles of quantum mechanics.

As part of this research, Răzvan Oprea will conduct two free workshops for actors in November and December. These workshops will provide participants with the opportunity to directly experience the principles of the research and contribute to its development. The research results will be published next year.

Commented Răzvan Oprea, "This research has the potential to fundamentally change the way we understand and train actors. By demonstrating that the principles of quantum mechanics also apply to the performing arts, the study opens new horizons in theatre studies and physics. Supporting this project offers significant benefits, including association with innovation and progress, increased visibility and legitimacy, and contribution to the development of artistic knowledge and practices."
